I am a Mental Health OT (Occupational Therapist) with over 15 years of experience.
A Mental Health Occupational Therapist works similarly to a Psychologist, with a few key differences. Mental Health Occupational Therapy attracts a Medicare rebate just the same way Psychology does. You can ask your GP for up to ten session per year.
What sets Mental Health OT apart is that it is a client-centred approach. Your therapist will help you to explore practical solutions to challenging areas of your life. This means that you can start implementing small changes quickly, which can make for an improved quality of life right away.
I specialise in working with clients with issues relating to:
- Low self-esteem
- Grief and loss
- Sexual assault
- Complex presentations
- Psychotic disorders
- Work-related stress
I have extensive experience working with people under their 30’s, particularly in the areas of trauma and anxiety.
I use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness as the basis of my counselling sessions. I offer practical solutions-based counselling, using Activity Scheduling, Solution-Focused Therapy, Transcultural Psychology as well as Yoga, Relaxation strategies and Wellbeing strategies.
