Hiya, I’m Maaku (pronounced like ‘mark-who’). I am passionate about the power of counselling and psychotherapy, and the ways in which this modality can inspire growth, clarity, and softness.
As we progress through life, we are constantly moving through learning and unlearning, un-knowing and knowing. While this inherent flow is often subtle, being able to notice it can be the difference between repeating old habits and stories, and stepping towards change and transformation. One of my goals in sessions is to help you to take steps towards and within this transition.
My general therapeutic approach is parts-informed, somatic, and holistic. I will respond to your needs both within the present moment and your therapeutic journey. My goal is to help you develop a stronger sense of your insight and self-awareness, learn how to integrate your experiences, and ultimately forge a deeper connection with yourself to foster better wellbeing.
Throughout our time together, you might begin to see an improvement with:
– Low mood, negative thoughts, or depression
– Repetitive, racing, or uncontrollable thoughts
– Anxiety
– Stress
– Burnout
– Connecting with and understanding sexuality and gender
– Communication difficulties
– Interpersonal relationship difficulties
– Identity and sense of self
– Identifying values and living a meaningful life
– Learning to feel grounded and supported
– Unravelling the threads of intergenerational and inherited trauma
– Understanding multiplicity and channelling Self energy
I provide in-person and online sessions at The Urban Alchemist in Carlton North, and am able to support clients on an NDIS plan.
For those who need it, I am able to offer a lower-cost fee. This is especially encouraged for students, part-time and casual workers, low-income, or otherwise disadvantaged humans. If this might be you, you can book in directly here.
I welcome people from all walks of life, and you can expect sessions to be LGBTQIA+ friendly and sex-worker friendly. If you are unsure if I may be a good fit for you, you are welcome to contact reception and pick their brain – they know me pretty well.
If you’re feeling ready to explore a new way of relating to yourself and the world around you, approach yourself with curiosity and compassion, or desperately craving someone to hold space for you…I’m here.
