This specialised massage is typically used before, during, and after sporting events. The purpose of sports massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance and improve recovery. The techniques used will drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility and prevent injuries.
Sports Massage encompasses deep tissue and other specialised techniques to alleviate acute and chronic muscular symptoms. Where appropriate, your therapist will draw on direct myofascial release techniques (MFR). MFR works by directly engaging the fascia, the soft tissue component of connective tissue. Fascia plays a fundamental role in the body’s structure, function and recovery. By employing these MFR techniques, the therapist is able to facilitate an effective relief of physical discomfort, chronic stiffness and pain as well as improving mental and emotional stress.
Although sports massage was originally designed for athletes, this form of treatment is also relevant for those experiencing chronic pain, injury or range-of-motion issues. It is equally effective and enjoyable for those seeking a more rigorous, deep tissue treatment.
Note: We only use hypo allergenic water dispersible premium massage oil. Ingredients include sunflower oil, jojoba oil, natural coconut glycerides and extracts.
